Review: Would You Rather?

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Company for an ARC. This book will be released August 23, 2022.

"I don't know where you belong if it's not with me."

2022 is truly the year for romance! I requested Would You Rather in January when I realized that I am absolutely a romance reader, and I wanted to read everything I could. I almost didn't request this book because I was afraid I wouldn't like the "marriage of convenience" trope. I was also worried this would be a sad book. Turns out I am actually mad at myself that I didn't read this book sooner! I am absolutely in love with this book and I know that other romance fans will too! (Ali Hazelwood also loved this book-if that means anything to you.)

Recap:

Noah and Mia have been best friends since they were children. Now they are 30 (and 31) and they are still a part of each others lives. They work together and they hang out all the time. Mia has a kidney disease that requires her to have medical insurance through a job she doesn't quite love. She gets the opportunity to go back to school and do the career she is actually passionate about, but that would mean quitting her job and losing her (necessary) health insurance. Noah suggests they get married because he's a good friend, and that's just what good friends do! Mia is hesitant but decides to go for it. However, neither of them know that the other is actually in love for real! Noah and Mia now have to figure out what they want out of life and with each other.

Thoughts:

-LOVED LOVED LOVED! I finished the book and didn't know what to do with myself. I was expecting just an average book, but this book surprised me in the best way possible!

-Mia has a kidney disease and we see a bit of her journey with that. I enjoyed how this was handled throughout the book.

-I loved seeing Mia succeed in the thing that she really wants!

-This book is written in third person, but we see both perspectives. I thought this was an excellent choice for this story. While Mia and Noah both have feelings for each other, they both have some issues that they need to work out before they can be together. This dual perspective allowed the reader to see the character's develop, and helped to understand what is keeping them from each other.

- This is the kind of book that makes a person believe in love again. Noah set the highest of standards. "I'll always come back for you. Always" *swoons*

This is such a good concept for a plot! It sounds adorable. It also sounds like it would make a good movie.
